PROM.UA, a major B2B and B2C marketplace owned by Poland-based Allegro Group, has acquired Metnis Kabanchikom, an online service that allows users to post work requests and find people to complete the tasks. According to Ukrainian tech news site AIN.UA, negotiations regarding the acquisition began last autumn and were concluded last week.
“As part of the deal, PROM.UA has acquired the intellectual property of Metnis Kabanchikom, its team, and its userbase, everything except its legal entity”, reported the company. Other terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The service will continue under the “Metnis Kabanchikom” name.
In an exchange with AIN.UA, PROM.UA founder Nikolay Polienko said that, under the current crisis conditions, PROM.UA will benefit by expanding its sphere of services and from the broad experience that the Metnis team holds in the “service” market.
The deal comes as Prom.ua’s second acquisition in a mere six months. This past September, the company aquired Zakupki-online.com, a platform that helps companies organize sales and purchases online without middlemen.
In two and a half years of operations, services offered through Metnis Kabanchikom have been used by more than 15,000 people. At the moment, more than 3,000 tasks are published monthly on the platform under 90 different categories. More than 30,000 users have registered, with several hundred relying upon the platform as their primary source of income. The most popular services include courier deliveries, cleaning apartments, plumbing and electrical services, repairing apartments, copywriting, and advertising. The company generates revenue by taking a 10-20% commission on each task, depending on the budget for the job.
Last year, Metnis attracted $60,000 from angel investors. The company previously participated in the acceleration program at the EastLabs incubator, for which it received $20,000 in exchange for 15% of the startup.
