Amazon Prime Video acquires rights for Ukrainian movie

Amazon Prime Video has acquired rights to Ukrainian comedy #Selfieparty produced by the Sonce (“the Sun” in Ukrainian) channel. The news was reported by Sonce on its Facebook page earlier this month.

The acquisition took place a month after US tech giant made its video offer available in Ukraine along with other 200 countries and territories around the globe.

Today movie lovers worldwide can rent the movie for $2,99 or buy it for $9,99 on the Amazon site.

The movie’s plot is described as follows: “Four friends who are all students, wake up at the police station, not remembering the events of yesterday. They are accused of murdering a dwarf, whose body was found on the lawn of the house where the boys partied last night. To figure out what happened, the boys decide to collect all the photos and videos from yesterday’s mayhem.

Released in March 2016, the movie has grossed almost $180,000 in seven weeks in Ukraine, according to Box Office Mojo.

Launched in 2013, Sonce is presented as “a light entertainment Ukrainian TV channel of positive emotions, with no news, politics, no social topics or a bad mood.”
