Ukrainians spent $179 million on games in 2018, according to Newzoo. Ranking 46th in the research firm’s global ranking, Ukraine is just above Romania ($176 million, 47th place) and the Czech Republic ($157 million, 49th place), but below Kazakhstan ($207 million, 44th place) and Poland ($541 million, 23rd place).
Unsurprisingly, with $1.65 billion in generated sales in 2018, Russia appears as #1 in Eastern Europe and #11 in the world.
Newzoo’s estimates exclude hardware sales, tax, business-to-business services, and online gambling and betting revenues. They are “based on a combination of primary consumer research, transactional data, quarterly company reports, and census data.”
