The US digital giant launched an R&D center in Kyiv in January 2020, Ukrainian tech blog AIN.UA reported.
The facility is being housed in a building belonging to CloudSimple, a US cloud technologies firm which Google acquired along with its Ukrainian office in November 2019.
Even though Google has eight offices across Central and Eastern Europe, only three of them conduct R&D activities. They are located in Poland, Hungary and Ukraine starting from now.
Google also had an engineering facility in Russia, but it shut it down in 2014 following the adoption of a restrictive legislation on personal data storage.
