Angel One, an angel venture fund established in 2022 by Ukrainian Catholic University, has facilitated syndicated investment deals of up to $300,000, involving six Ukrainian defense and dual-use technology startups.
Among these startups is Buntar Aerospace, founded last year, which develops a reconnaissance air defense system. Another is Mantis Analytics, which provides AI technologies to counteract information warfare, while Swarmer offers software and hardware solutions designed to enhance drone and multi-drone missions.
Angel One’s Managing Partner, Ivan Petrenko, told the Ukrainian tech blog AIN that while the fund “cannot invest directly in defense technology startups due to internal policies,” it “acts as an intermediary between private investors who are looking for and want to invest” in such startups.
“The fund’s team searches and evaluates startups, communicates with potentially interested investors, and continues to support these startups after agreements are signed,” Petrenko explained.
Despite its involvement in defense-related startups, Angel One does not have an industry-specific focus. It continues to invest in Ukrainian-founded startups at the pre-seed and seed stages.
As reported by AIN, Angel One’s portfolio includes Rozmova, a platform for finding trusted psychotherapists, and GO TO-U, a platform for EV charging operations.
