Last week The Atlantic Council published an analysis by Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, exploring parallels between drone technology and cybersecurity developments in Ukraine.
Motkin believes Ukraine can harness its technological breakthroughs in the field of drones to fortify its cybersecurity infrastructure. Noting that Ukrainian AI-powered drones have played a pivotal role in countering Russian military actions, the expert suggests this technological expertise serve as a template for enhancing the nation’s cybersecurity defenses.
A comprehensive cybersecurity strategy should not only mitigate current threats, but also anticipate future vulnerabilities. Motkin advocates for a cooperative approach involving government entities, private sector participants, and international allies to bolster Ukraine’s cyber defenses.
“Ukraine regularly faces fresh challenges from Russian cyber forces and hacker groups; the most effective approach would involve developing solutions on-site. Among other things, this would make it possible to conduct immediate tests in genuine wartime conditions, as is done with drones,” Motkin writes.
StrategEast is a non-profit organization with offices in the United States, Ukraine, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. It contributes to developing Eurasia’s digital economy, in collaboration with international financial institutions.
The NGO says it “supports initiatives that promote technological innovation and cybersecurity in Ukraine, aligning with broader goals of enhancing regional stability and security.”
