Many of you might know the Ukrainian game development industry by its recent hits, including Assassin’s Creed, the Star Wars series, Crysis, Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Warface and World of Tanks – which were all fully or partly developed in Ukraine.
Launched on May 15, ZADZEN’s Elements: Epic Heroes is the latest in this series of successes. The game, which was dowloaded one million times during its launch week, now claims 100,000 regular users.
The Kingdoms of Elements are being invaded by the Dark Lord and his evil forces are corrupting the once beautiful lands and unleashing chaos upon them.
Available to both Android and iOS users, this new action role-playing game (RPG) makes it easy to experience a true action RPG on a mobile device. It is arguably one of the best implementations of hack’n’slash mechanics on the market. The game offers the option of playing solo or co-op with friends to slay giant bosses together online.
Elements: Epic Heroes is published by Gamevil, a major global mobile game publisher with offices in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Beijing and Seoul. Working with more than 70 studios around the world, the company has released hundreds of games and claims more than 300 million downloads.
ZADZEN, the developer, is located in Lviv (Lvov), Western Ukraine. Launched in 2012, this company is backed by N-iX, a software development service provider that employs 150 people locally.
Lviv is one of the top Ukrainian regions for game development – along with Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv (Kiev) – with an estimated 23% market share of the country’s game development industry.
In spite of Ukraine’s successes in PC game development, over 70% of the country’s leading game development startups primarily focus on mobile games, according to AVentures Capital and AIN.ua.
