New York-based VertaMedia, an online marketing agency, last week announced the acquisition of AdCenter for $400,000. Based in Odessa, AdCenter organizes targeted ad campaigns on Russian-language social networks including Vkontakte (VK.com) and Odnoklassninki.ru.
The agency serves Ukrainian as well as Russian clients via an office in Krasnogorsk in the Moscow region. The AdCenter site currently operates solely in Russian, but an English-language version will be created.
Founded in 2012 by Vadim Rogovskiy, managing partner at Odessa-based incubator WannaBiz, the agency generated $15,000 per month at the time of the sale. It previously obtained $300,000 from an unnamed individual investor, reported AIN.UA.
Although based in the United States, VertaMedia also maintains Ukrainian roots. The firm was founded in 2008 by Alexander Bornyakov, who remains a partner in WannaBiz and co-founded mobile-marketing sevice Clickky with Rogovskiy. Rogovskiy has said that he placed AdCenter for sale in order to devote more time to Clickky.
“Initially, I intended for it to go beyond the borders of the CIS and become an international service for the optimization of targeted advertising. And I am glad that this will now happen with VertaMedia,” stated Rogovksiy.
