Earlier this month AIN.UA, a popular Ukrainian online tech publication, launched an international version, making a part of its content available in English language. Launched in 1999, the site published stories only in Russian so far.
“There are no boundaries for the Ukrainian tech industry: Ukrainian startups focus on international markets [from their very start],” wrote AIN founder At the same time there is a very limited amount of available and verified information on the Ukrainian tech scene in English,” and “lots of truly remarkable Ukrainian stories have never been told in English.”
This international version will leverage on the 6% of the current AIN audience which comes from western countries – essentially Germany, the USA, Poland, Netherlands, Israel and the UK, according to Boshnyakov.
“Most of these visitors are [emigrants] who still follow Ukrainian tech news,” while others are “journalists, funds, clients and partners of local companies who are forced to seek and translate into English on their own,” the publisher wrote.
Among other publications offering English-language content on Ukrainian innovation are Ukraine Digital News, launched in 2014, which is fully dedicated to these topics; InVenture, a bilingual business portal; and Kyiv Post, an English language publication which offers a sponsored Technology section.
