Ukrainian-founded AI startup Respeecher has landed a $1.5 million in funding for its voice transformation and transfer technology aimed at the entertainment industry. The round was led by ff Venture Capital, with participation from Acrobator Ventures, ICU Ventures, Network VC, and several angel investors.
Respeecher provides an AI-based toolkit to change recorded voice or “transfer” the voice of one person to another (not in real time yet, though).
Founded in 2017, Respeecher is registered in Delaware but has kept the bulk of its team in Kyiv (Kiev). Prior to the latest funding round, the startup raised about $120,000 as part of a Techstars acceleration program in Philadelphia.
“Respeecher’s technology is far ahead of the competition and has current applications in the movie industry, call centres, gaming, synthetic voices and the new area of voice scaling. It will be exciting to see their tech develop not only in these commercial verticals but potentially also in the area of encryption,” said Bas Godska, a serial tech investor and Acrobator Ventures co-founder who lives between Kyiv and his native Holland.
“As an investor, we understand the sensitive nature of this type of tech. We have full confidence in the team as they have shown a profound understanding of the responsibility they hold in developing this type of technology,” added Acrobator Ventures co-founder Joachim Laqueur.
