Ukrainian students win Google app challenge

On August 30, Ukrainian developer team Turbo Rocket Games won Google’s 2016 AdMob Student App Challenge with its online animal simulator game Dragon Sim Online. The winning team consists of just four members — Vladimir Duchenchuk, Serhii Dotsenko, Yaroslava Girilishena and Iliya Bakurov, — who are students or graduates from National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

Playtika acquisition: 600 Ukrainian IT specialists to work for Chinese investors

Last month a consortium of Chinese investors led by Shanghai Giant Network Technology Co. agreed to acquire Playtika, the social and mobile gaming branch of Caesars Entertainment Corp., in an all-cash deal of $4,4 billion. Almost half of Playtika’s staff — 600 out of 1,300 employees operating globally — work in Ukraine, noted Ukrainian high tech blog AIN.UA.
