Nordcurrent, a Vilnius-based game publisher, has acquired Blam! Games Studios, a game development company based in Odessa, Southern Ukraine, the Lithuanian company announced in late April without disclosing the amount of the deal.
As part of the deal — which comes after four years of cooperation — Blam! Games will become Nordcurrent’s third studio, coming in addition to Vilnius and Warsaw. The studio will operate under a new name, ‘Nordcurrent Odessa.’
“We are glad to welcome one of the best Ukrainian game studios in our family. We have had multiple occasions to see that there are many talented developers in Ukraine. We are planning to expand the Odessa studio by bringing together the best professionals from all the Ukrainian regions,” commented Nordcurrent’s CEO Victoria Trofimova.
“We strongly believe that the development of the studio will allow us to jointly create even more quality and famous games for the global market,” she added.
Founded in 2009, Blam! Games Studios is among the most established studios in Ukraine with some 40 employees and over 45 executed projects.
On its side, the Lithuanian company has released over 50 games for different platforms since its inception in 2002. It is known for its hit game Cooking Fever, which has been downloaded by more than 200 million users.
The company now employs over 170 people, including its Ukrainian office, according to its website.
