Ukrainian tech investor Oleksii Vitchenko has acquired Translate.com, a US-based publisher of enterprise translation solutions.
Among the company’s products are such ones as ‘Website Localizer,’ which lets you “localize your entire website within minutes;” ‘GoGlobal API,’ which allows external applications “to order human translations for text content” in multiple languages; ‘Translate Zendesk App,’ which “automatically translates support tickets in real-time to interact with global customers in their native language,” and others.
Even though Translate.com generates several millions of US dollars in annual revenues, according to CrunchBase, Vitchenko spent just $853,000 for the acquisition.
“The revenues were falling, that’s why they sold the company,” the investor told Ukraine Digital News.
Translate.com was owned by Emerge Media, a Chicago-based media and Internet company operating in the fields of search, communication, and online dating.
The team was located in Texas and Michigan, but Vitchenko will “move the development and marketing to Ukraine.” He intends to invest further in the company to have it join global leaders in its field.
Vitchenko is a figure of the Ukrainian venture scene. In 2014, with a solid experience in tech entrepreneurship, he founded Digital Future, a VC firm investing in Ukraine, Europe, Israel and the USA.
